Etui Podcast #38: Alessandro Crimi

Listen to Etui podcast by Alessandro Crimi full of deep techno he loves so much. We also had a chat with him about his Wandering EP.

Nice to have you back on the podcast series. How are things going?

Thank you! All good here, making some music again after a break of a few months. I started a new job in the beginning of the year which i wanted to focus on.

Recently we released your Wandering EP.  What was your inspiration for the record?

When I make music, I almost never have a plan. I like just playing around for myself, not with the intention of making a track. Then sometimes something nice happens and I can create kind of a flow and finish something. But most of the time i just experiment around. I rarely finish music projects. I like to just enjoy those special moments.

More Information
What was the key moment that got you into house and techno / electronic music?

I have listened to electronic music (and many other genres) my whole life (thanks to my parents). So there was not a key moment. The first artists and bands I listened to were Jean Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk and Pink Floyd.

Please name 3 artists that inspire you and why?

Jan Jelinek, Andrew Pekler, Deepchord.

They are just absolut masters in what they do. The quality is just insane and it’s always very innovative. I’m getting bored very fast with music that can get copied easily or that sounds like thousands of other artists.
Those 3 definitly play in their own league.

Do you have any tips for visiting Switzerland? Hidden spots to eat, go for a walk or just watch the sunset?

I just moved to Baden 2 I just moved to Baden 2 years ago. I recommend everything here. It has a lot of beautiful spots. It’s well known for its thermal spas. A perfect place to come down and relax.

What’s the idea behind your mix?

It’s pretty similar to my production process. I don´t have much of a plan. Usually i just play what I’m in the mood for. But for this one i tried to focus on Dub Techno as this makes kind of sense imo when making a Podcast for Etui :)

What can we expect next from you?

There will be some Releases for sure. For example there will be a track on the next Various Artist EP on Roger Gerressen’s Irenic Label. And I also release an ambient track on upcoming Etui Winter Camp 6 compilation in 2022.
